Take a Stand - ByAnnie

Join us for a fun and skill-building sewing class as we make the ByAnnie “Take a Stand” Bag—a sturdy and stylish stand-up tote that’s perfect for carrying supplies, travel items, or everyday essentials. This versatile bag features handy pockets, a zipper closure, and a structured base, making it as practical as it is attractive.
Skill Level
This class is best suited for intermediate sewists. Students should be comfortable using their sewing machine, sewing accurate ¼” seams, and following a detailed pattern with multiple steps.
What You’ll Learn

How to work with foam stabilizers for structure.

Techniques for installing zippers with ease.

Constructing pockets and binding for a polished finish.

Tips for bag-making success and handling bulk on your machine.

Step-by-step assembly of the bag’s body and base.
By the end of class, you’ll have the skills to complete your own Take a Stand Bag and confidence to tackle other ByAnnie projects.
Required Materials & Supplies
Students must bring:

Their own sewing machine in good working order (with power cord and foot pedal).

Standard sewing notions (thread, scissors, pins/clips, seam ripper, rotary cutter, ruler, etc.).

Fabric, zippers, stabilizers, and all required materials as listed on the pattern.

Important Homework (Must Be Done Before Class)
To ensure we can complete the project in class, students are required to:

Quilt the fabric with foam stabilizer.

Cut and label all fabric and stabilizer pieces.
Failure to complete the homework will result in not being able to finish the bag during class time.

| Skill Details: | Students should have a working knowledge of their sewing machine; know how to use basic sewing tools such as rotary cutters and rulers; have the ability to read a pattern and perform basic tasks such as quilting fabric without an instructor; cut out & label the project. |
| Requirements: | Student should bring their machine, cleaned, oiled and in good working condition with al normal sewing accessories to include the power cord, foot control, slide on tray if your machine has one and the manual you received when you purchased your machine. HOMEWORK BEFORE CLASS !!! Read instructions of the pattern. Following instructions, quilt fabric and cut all pieces. Label each piece as it is cut! Labeling each piece as you cut them will keep this process organized and make your class time more productive. Not doing this step prior to class could cause you to not finish in the allotted time. |
