Project Description

Join us for a fun and creative quilting workshop featuring the "Pencil Me In" wall hanging pattern! We'll use the AccuQuilt GO! cutting system to quickly cut precision pieces and stitch together colorful stacked pencils. A great project for using scraps — perfect for teachers, kids' rooms, or your sewing studio wall.

What You’ll Learn

• How to use AccuQuilt GO! and dies for fast, accurate cutting

• A twist on flying geese for pencil points

• Piecing techniques for crisp seams

• Layout design and simple wall hanging finishing

Supplies

Provided by Instructor or Studio:

• AccuQuilt GO! Cutter (or GO! Baby)

• GO! Dies:

  • Flying Geese 3" x 6" Finished (or compatible triangle/rectangle dies)

  • Strip cutter dies (1.5", 2", etc.)

• Cutting mats, irons, pressing stations

• Design wall or layout boards

• Fabric(choose when you arrive)

What You Need to Bring:

• Thread, pins, scissors, rotary cutter (optional)

• Sewing machine

Class Schedule

Length: One 6-hour day

Session Breakdown:

Hour 1 – Introduction & Pattern Overview

• Welcome, supply check

• Color planning with scrap fabrics

Hour 2 – Cutting Demonstration

• AccuQuilt GO! demo: pencil tips and strips

• Students cut their fabrics

Hour 3–4 – Piecing the Pencils

• Assembling pencil points and shafts

• Matching seams, working with small pieces

Hour 5 – Assembling the Layout

• Arrange pencils in a stacked layout

• Add background strips and borders

Hour 6 – Finishing Techniques

• Discuss quilting, binding, and hanging sleeve

• Q&A, student showcase
