StoryTeller Quilt
Join us for a fun pre-Halloween sewing day featuring the Storyteller quilt by Tricia Lynn Maloney for Villa Rosa Designs. This easy panel quilt is the perfect way to showcase the sophisticated, slightly creepy style of J. Wecker Frisch’s Costume Maker’s Act II collection.
Inspired by antique late-1800s sewing patterns, this fabric line offers a modern-vintage Halloween look with costume illustrations, theater motifs, webs, and classic black, orange, and cream tones.
Best of all, the Storyteller pattern works with any large panel—so once you learn the technique in class, you can use it again and again with scenic, nature, novelty, or holiday panels of your choice.
What’s Included: The Costume Maker’s Act II panel and all required coordinating fabrics for the quilt top and binding.
Skill Level: Confident Beginner Students should be comfortable using a rotary cutter and sewing accurate ¼″ seams.
Class Length: 5 hours (includes a short break)
In class you will learn:
- How to properly trim and prepare a panel
- Accurate cutting and piecing of sashing and accent strips
- Tips for working with panel quilts
- Optional border construction
- Straightforward techniques typical of Villa Rosa’s easy “Rose Card” patterns
Most students will leave with a completed quilt top ready for quilting. Come sew a stylish, spooky quilt that lets your panel tell the story—and gain a go-to pattern you can use with any panel in the future!

| Requirements: | Sewing machine in good working order (with power cord and foot pedal) Basic sewing machine feet (¼? foot recommended) Rotary cutter (45mm preferred) with a sharp blade Cutting mat (at least 18? × 24?) Quilting rulers: 6? × 24? ruler 6½? or 12½? square ruler (helpful for trimming) Pins or wonder clips Seam ripper Fabric scissors and small thread snips Neutral thread (gray or beige works well) Iron and small pressing mat (or travel iron) Marking tool (fabric pen or chalk) |
